The Government has today published a Green Paper entitled Simplicity, Security And Choice: Working And Saving For Retirement. It proposes a package of reforms to ensure that people are adequately provided for in retirement and to encourage greater participation of older workers in the labour market to meet the challenge of increasing life expectancy.

Remember that this is just a Green Paper – it's a proposal on which the Government is consulting. It doesn't represent an immediate change to the Local Government Pension Scheme or to any other public service pension scheme.
