In the news today is a report from Alan Pickering, former chairman of the National Association of Pension Funds. Pickering proposes many changes to company pensions.

The Government intends to consider these proposals and respond in a Green Paper in the Autumn. Before then, the results of a review of Inland Revenue regulation is expected, and the Green Paper should also cover Inland Revenue simplification measures and wider pensions issues.

While some of the changes can be implemented within existing legislation, others (if the government accepts them) would need changes in primary legislation – a change in the law, in effect – which could take some time. We'll keep you informed if the government accepts any changes that might affect your WYPF pension.
