Safe use of AI

Understanding your pension can sometimes feel complicated. We work hard to make our information as clear and easy to understand as possible, but some pension topics can involve a lot of detail.

AI tools are becoming increasingly popular and you may be considering using them to help explain pension information. While these tools can be useful, it is important to understand their limitations before relying on them.

AI tools can provide information that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. This could lead to misunderstandings about your pension benefits and may result in decisions that are not in your best interests.

If you make decisions about your pension based on information provided by an AI tool, and that information later proves to be incorrect, it is very unlikely that you would be entitled to compensation from the AI provider. We do not accept responsibility for any financial loss or other consequences arising from the use of AI tools.

You should also be aware that any personal or confidential information entered into publicly available AI services like Chat GPT or Google Gemini may be stored or processed by the provider. Although providers have security measures in place, there is always a risk that information could be sold on, accessed by unauthorised parties or compromised through cyber security incidents.

Using AI safely

If you choose to use AI tools:

• Do not rely on them as the sole source of information when making decisions about your pension
• Do not enter personal, financial or confidential information
• Check any information provided against official pension documentation
